Blondes On A Budget

Written by: Cherry Creek Salon
Did you know that the average blonde spends an average of $2,500 on hair maintenance a year? That was the figure that blonde gurus Melanie Blessant and Kim Cocozzella found after surveying blondes from across the Denver market in regards to their spending patterns on cutting, color, styling and retail products.
Cherry Creek Salon owner and lead colorist Melanie Blessant and colorist Kim Cocozzella realized that in this tough economic time there had to be a better way. The team at Antoine Du Chez crafted a way to help slash the cost while maintaining the high standards they and their customers expect. After much thought and collaboration “Blondes on a Budget” was born.
“Most clients are astounded at how quickly it adds up!” says Blessant. After a personal consultation, the team lays out a plan that is individually crafted for each client’s needs, which can save upwards of 20% from their annual spending while keeping their hair and their color in immaculate shape.
While Blessant and Cocozzella suggest a personal consultation, as each client’s needs are different, below are some tips that they suggest for all blondes.- Alternating Full Highlights with partial highlights. The underside of hair is naturally darker due to lack of direct sunlight. Some blondes only need to get a full set of highlights every 2-3 trips to the salon. This all depends on the shade of blonde that you are as well as what you are looking for
- Color Safe Shampoos and glossing treatments in the salon can add weeks to your color while keeping it looking healthy and strong. (Antoine du Chez strongly recommends the Kerastase Chroma Riche line)
- When having your hair styled, Todd Putman-Salon Creative Director in Cherry Creek, suggests a cut with the ends cut clean. Over textured or over razored ends will dry faster, especially in the dry Colorado winter months, causing color to fade more quickly at the end of the hair and require more frequent trims. Clean cuts last longer and can go a few extra weeks between maintenance cuts. Most people wash their hair every day using too much shampoo and conditioner, which can dehydrate the hair causing damage as well as strip the hair of its color. We recommend that if you wash your hair daily, use about a dime size portion of Kerastase shampoo as well as conditioner and make sure you are using the prescribed Kerastase shampoo from your technician. Otherwise, feel free to wash your hair every other day in order to maintain its health and shiny glow.
